Northgate area guide
Started in 1951 as part of the new town development and similar to West Green which borders it, Northgate has a population of around 4,400.
There are just under 2,000 households in Northgate making it one of the smallest neighborhoods in Crawley.
The properties consist of a varying mixture from studio apartments to detached properties. There is quite a large concentration of ex-local authority terraced housing. The neighbourhood has a similar make up to West Green and is again quite multi-cultural.
For a typical 3 bedroom terraced house you would expect to pay around £300,000. The rental market in Northgate is very strong and a similar property would let for around £1,200 PCM.
Northgate is located within walking distance of both the town centre and the Manor Royal industrial estate and gets its name from the North Toll Gate from the London to Brighton road.
Despite its proximity to the centre, it still boasts a number of local facilities including a shopping parade, community centre and Northgate Primary School (Ofsted). It also partly falls within the Hazelwick Secondary School (Ofsted) catchment area.
